Tutor Resources
We have created a Blackboard Community group for tutors to use to share information, develop professionally, and stay connected with the larger college community.
- Log in to your MyMC page and click on the Blackboard icon in the upper-right corner.
- Click on the “Community” tab in the upper-right corner of the Blackboard main page.
- In the “Organization Search” box in the upper-left corner, type in “WRLC Tutors.”
- The Browse Organization Catalog page appears. You should see the community listed under “Organization ID.”
- Click the small, gray chevron button to the right of the Organization Name.
- Click “Enroll” on the menu that appears.
- The Self Enrollment page appears.
- Confirm that you are enrolling in “WRLC Tutors,” then click “Submit.”
More detailed instructions will be available in the tutoring room (HU 006) on the Announcements Board. We encourage you to use the tutoring room computers to enroll if you think you will need assistance navigating Blackboard.
For tutors who wish to develop their tutoring pedagogy and skill set, the Rockville WRL Center recommends the following books, articles, and handouts. All of these materials are available in the HU 006 Tutoring Room, and we encourage you to read them during downtime in your tutoring shift. If you have suggestions for future additions to the collection, especially Disciplinary & Assignment-Specific Tutoring Tools (DATTs), please contact Vanessa Nakoski. Discussion of these materials can be found in the WRL Center Tutor Blackboard Community.
