The Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education (GITE) offers a wide range of training in the areas of Automotive, Building and Construction, Construction Management, Computer Repair, Welding, Environmental Horticulture & Sustainable Agribusiness,  and Basic Repairs. Students have the option of taking these classes for credit (working toward a College Degree) or noncredit (without the worry of grades) - through Workforce Development and Continuing Education (WDCE). Many of these classes prepare you for Industry Recognized Certification exams.

Environmental Horticulture and Sustainable Agribusiness

For professionals and amateurs alike. 

Environmental horticulture can accommodate career interests in either landscape contracting or design. There is a Credit certificate program  designed for persons interested in pursuing a new career as well as for green industry employees seeking additional professional development. The course below is noncredit. 

New Class: Introduction to Cannabis, 5 Tuesdays, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Dates: 5 Tuesdays, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. November 12, 2024 to December 10, 2024  Location: Online via Zoom
Class Cost: TTG613, CRN# 25497, $199.99 Non-Maryland residents add $120. 

Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Opportunities

Earn While You Learn Apprenticeship Programs 

Apprenticeship Opportunities Montgomery College, in partnership with local employers, offers "earn while you learn" apprenticeship programs in high-demand fields. These programs combine on-the-job experience with related technical instruction provided by the college. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.

  • Complete on-the-job training and coursework to become a certified automotive technician
  • Many apprentices are offered full-time employment upon successful completion

Electrical/Wiring Apprenticeship Program

  In partnership with  IEC Chesapeake Electrical Apprenticeship Programnew window 

  • Learn electrical theory, code compliance, and hands-on installation from industry experts
  • Gain experience working on a variety of commercial, industrial, and residential projects
  • Advance to become a licensed journeyman electrician or specialized electrical contractor

HVAC Apprenticeship

In Partnership with  Steamfitters Local 602 Apprenticeship Program

  • Work alongside experienced contractors
  • Receive technical training from Montgomery College to earn HVAC certifications
  • Earn a competitive wage that increases as your skills progress
