You're Invited: Care & Curriculum: Spotlight on Student Parents — From Insight to Impact

On April 28, Montgomery College, in proud partnership with Believe in Students and Ascend at the Aspen Institute, will host the national premiere of Supporting the Basic Needs of Parenting Students — the first professional development curriculum in the country designed to equip faculty, staff and parenting students with tools to better support parenting students in higher education.
This powerful event will feature documentary-style video shorts that spotlight the real stories and lived experiences of Montgomery College’s own student parents — bringing their voices, challenges, and resilience to the forefront. You’ll also hear from faculty and institutional leaders who are committed to reimagining what inclusive support truly looks like.
Parenting students are a vital part of our College community — balancing academics, work, and caregiving as they pursue their degrees. This premiere invites us all to listen, learn, and lead with care.
This is more than a curriculum launch — it’s a movement toward equity, empathy, and impact.
Come celebrate their stories. Learn practical strategies. Be part of the change.
