Montgomery College Announces Appointments of Three New Board of Trustees Members

Montgomery College (MC) welcomed three new Board of Trustees members in July. The Board of Trustees of Montgomery College is the institution's legal governing body and is comprised of 10 community individuals who are appointed by the governor. The new trustees are Mr. Marvin Dickerson, Mr. David A. Hill, and Ms. Annet Michelle Namugerwa.

Trustee Marvin Dickerson

Mr. Marvin Dickerson was appointed by Governor Wes Moore to a six-year term on the Montgomery College Board of Trustees beginning July 1, 2024. 

Mr. Dickerson is the president and chief executive officer of Dickerson Technologies, LLC, a full service IT consulting firm based in Germantown, Maryland. He has spent the past two decades advocating for education and career opportunities for disenfranchised and underserved youth through his work with 100 Black Men of America,  where he has served as the local chapter president, and International Board Member of 100 Black Men of America. In addition, Mr. Dickerson has served on boards of organizations that are committed to the development of community, such as the Stuart Educational Leadership Group, Leadership Montgomery, and the DC RBI Batter-Up Foundation. Mr. Dickerson has also served on NBC 4, PEPCO, and Adventist Health Care Community Advisory Boards. He has served on Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes-Norton’s Commission on Men and Boys for the past eight years.

Mr. Dickerson is a member of The People’s Community Baptist Church, where he is active in the men’s choir and chairman of the church’s foundation. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in engineering at the University of Virginia. He is proud life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and currently lives in Germantown, Maryland, with his wife and two children.

Trustee David Hill

Mr. David A. Hill was appointed by Governor Wes Moore to a six-year term on the Montgomery College Board of Trustees beginning July 1, 2024. 

Mr. Hill is the president of DHill Professional Services, LLC, a boutique advisory law and consulting firm specializing in providing services to entrepreneurs, small and medium size businesses, and non-profit entities, both in the DMV area and nationally.     

An experienced advocate and advisor to many, Mr. Hill has enjoyed a successful career spanning over 30 years in various capacities, including as a senior executive in a Fortune 20 Company, general counsel in a ten-person start-up business, a partner in a national woman and minority-owned law firm, and a part of a racial equity consulting practice.  

A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Hill has lived in Silver Spring, Maryland since 1991. Educated at Wesleyan University and Harvard Law School, Mr. Hill has served on a number of non-profit boards, and committees. In addition to his service on the Montgomery College Board, Mr. Hill currently serves as the board president of the George B. Thomas Sr. Learning Academy (aka Saturday School) in Montgomery County, Maryland, as a board member of the Holy Cross Health System, and as a steward at the Kingdom Fellowship AME Church in Calverton, Maryland.  

Mr. Hill is the extremely proud father of two children and resides with his wife in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Trustee Annet Namugerwa

Ms. Annet Michelle Namugerwa was appointed by Governor Wes Moore to a one-year term on the Montgomery College Board of Trustees beginning July 1, 2024. 

Ms. Namugerwa is currently entering her third semester of nursing school at Montgomery College. Her long-standing passion for caring for those who are suffering and alleviating their miseries led her to pursue a career in the health sector. Clinical rotations as a nursing student have exposed her to patient experiences that have further fueled her desire to become a healthcare provider. She aspires to become a nurse practitioner and possibly an oncologist.

At Montgomery College, Ms. Namugerwa has served in various positions, including treasurer for the Student Government Association, secretary of the STEM Club, and an officer in the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. She has served as a student representative on the Nursing Evaluation Committee, a tutor and scribe in the Disability Support Services, and a participant in the MC Leads leadership program. These roles have equipped her with a diverse skill set that she aims to apply in her leadership as a trustee.

As an immigrant student, Ms. Namugerwa's journey has been marked by significant challenges. Despite obstacles, she has remained steadfast in her commitment to academic excellence and community service. Her greatest motivation is her family, and she strives to set a positive example for her younger siblings, showing them that with hard work, nothing is unachievable.
