MC Confluence Translation Conference, April 12, 2025

The Montgomery College Confluence Committee is pleased to announce that the 2025 Confluence Conference, “Living Between Languages; The Translator’s Territory/Predicament” will be held on April 12, 2025, at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. Montgomery College will host the event with additional support from our generous sponsors: the MC Library, the Office of Community Engagement, the MC Humanities and English and Reading Departments, the National Capital Area Translation Association, and Arjang Translation Center.

Since 2015, the MC Confluence has been a gathering place for translation and interpretation professionals dedicated to enhancing the teaching and learning experience. This international event provides a forum for collaboration among academic experts and industry professionals and an opportunity to share ideas and best practices.

Confluence organizers are seeking proposals for presentations and workshops to be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, morning and afternoon: conference sessions will feature a variety of concurrent workshops and presentations on translation, interpretation, and translation studies. Proposals will be accepted in four tracks:

  1. Art of literary translation/interpretation
  2. Techniques, practices, and problem-solving in translation/interpretation
  3. Business of translation/interpretation
  4. Education in translation/interpretation

Proposals for workshops, panels, or other presentations should include requirements for room setup and technical needs, if any. Conference rooms have a computer workstation (or laptop), USB ports, CD player, internet access, and projection. Presentations should run no longer than 75 minutes.

Proposals are due by Friday, March 7, 2025.

Please submit your proposal online below.

Proposers will be informed about decisions by Monday, March 10, 2025. To achieve a well-rounded conference, the organizers may solicit additional proposals at any time or may ask proposers to alter or consolidate presentations.

If you encounter any problems with online submission, please contact Jeff Chuang at 240-567-6614, or Jeff.Chuang@montgomerycollege.edu, or email Joan.Rozario@montgomerycollege.edu
