The Germantown campus English and Reading Department offers a wide variety of classes, on campus and online. Register for recommended online orientation via Zoom for ENGL 101, 102 and 103.
We are the home to MC's certificate in technical writing, and we offer all English and reading classes in three content areas: college reading and composition; professional writing; and literature.
The credit-level composition courses provide comprehensive instruction in essay writing, critical thinking, research, and argumentation.
Professional writing courses teach technical report writing and editing as well as grammar, fiction writing and poetry writing.
Literature courses not only teach the basics of close reading and analysis, but also encourage students to learn about cultures, history and social issues.
We also offer Integrated English Reading and Writing (IERW) classes for native English-speakers who need to prepare for college-level work.
Many of our classes satisfy General Education requirements for graduation and transfer.
Department and faculty offices are located in PK 140, the Paul Peck Academic and Innovation Building. For additional information, call 240-567-2012.
