Independence Now Inc.new window | Maryland Youth Leadership Forum | The Maryland Youth Leadership Forum (MD-YLF) is a summer program for rising juniors and seniors with ANY disability or those who are graduating from a high school program in 2024 (ages 15-21). MD-YLF invites approximately 30 students from across the state to stay for 3 days in the Towson University dorms. While on campus, students learn about self-advocacy, communication skills, the history of the disability/civil rights movement, and how to create meaningful social interaction with their peers. The students also meet their legislative representatives and learn how to present legislative testimony. Ultimately, the MD-YLF experiences will help guide students to advocate for themselves, learn to live independently, and grow as individuals. |
