Dr. Kenneth S. Weiner is a professor emeritus of mathematics, who retired in 2008 after 37 years as a faculty member at Montgomery College’s Rockville Campus. During his tenure at Montgomery College, Dr. Weiner served as department chair and maintained a continuing role as a faculty research associate in the Office of Planning and Institutional Research. From 1986 through 1998, Dr. Weiner served either as president or chief negotiator for the American Association of University Professors, the collective bargaining agent for the College’s full-time faculty.

He co-founded the College’s highly successful Biomedical Scholars Program in 2001, and served as the program’s co-director until 2006. In 2003, Minority Access, Inc. presented him with a National Role Model Mentor Award.

In recent years, Dr. Weiner turned his focus to outcomes assessment and management. He developed and implemented a collegewide outcomes assessment plan for Montgomery College’s academic programs, a role in which he became known as “Outcomes Ken.” He is a published expert in the field of outcomes assessment, and as such, provided training and individual consultation to more than 200 nonprofit organizations in Montgomery County on how to measure the impact of their services.

From 2009 through 2011, Dr. Weiner served as chair of a collegewide Developmental Math Task Force charged with reforming the developmental math program and significantly increasing student success rates.

Dr. Weiner is a founding board member of Future Link. He has served as president of its board of directors since 2011. Future Link serves young adults who lack the resources and knowledge to identify and pursue a pathway to a successful future, including those aging out of foster care, high school dropouts, first-generation college students, and youth who have experienced personal trauma or academic disruption in their lives.

He holds a PhD in mathematical statistics from the University of Maryland. He and his wife, Myra Turoff, live in Kensington, Maryland.
