Work Study

The financial aid office at Montgomery College coordinates Federal Work Study (FWS), which provides employment for students who are deemed eligible through the FAFSA. Jobs may be located on or off campus and offer you the opportunity to work in a part-time temporary capacity.

Federal Work Study (FWS) and Student Assistant (SA) positions, as well as MC internships, co-op, and additional part-time jobs with private and non-profit employers, can be found online at College Central Networknew window, an electronic job listing service provided by the college’s Student Employment Services.  Assistance is offered in the preparation of a resume if needed.

Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program

The Federal Work-Study Program provides an opportunity for you to earn money to help pay education related expenses. Funding for Federal Work-Study is limited, so please ensure that you complete the entire financial aid application process prior to the March 1 priority deadline in order to increase the likelihood of receiving FWS. Once you are awarded financial aid for the upcoming school year, contact the Federal Work-Study Program Specialist in the financial aid office to confirm your eligibility and availability of funds.

Pay Rates

The current pay rate for Federal Work-Study at Montgomery College is $16.70 per hour. Students are allowed to work up to 12 hours per week (depending on FWS award amount). Earnings are taxable; however, the amount you earn can be deducted from your income when applying for financial aid the next year.
