Herb Block Foundation Scholarshipsnew window
Deadlines: June 1 for fall semester and November 10 for spring semester
Established in 2005, The Herb Block Scholarship provides financial assistance to high
school graduates, community college students, and adult learners who wish to continue
their studies at Washington, D.C. area community colleges.
LA Tutors 123 Innovation in Education Scholarshipnew window
Deadline: 20th of each month
Entrants must have designed an innovative project that makes a difference in the lives
of others (e.g., a website, series of blogs, an app, fundraising event, etc.) and
must submit an essay describing the goal of the particular project and provide supporting
documentation. Entrants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (or the equivalent) and
be a citizen of, permanent resident of, or hold a valid student visa in the United
States or Canada.
United Negro College Fund (UNCF)new window
Provides information on how students can register to determine if they qualify for
any of the more than 400 scholarships, internships, and fellowship programs that UNCF
offers. All students of color, including Hispanic, Asian and Native American students

- Must be a permanent legal U.S. resident physically residing in the fifty United States of America or a holder of a valid student visa
- Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in agricultural sciences and other related studies

The application for the 2025 cohort will open in September of 2024 and close in January of 2025. To be eligible to apply for the 2025 cohort, you must meet all the criteria below:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time IT-related degree program at a U.S.-based accredited institution
- For the undergraduate fellowship:
- Community college students in an associate degree program must be seeking admission to enter a full-time, IT-related bachelor’s degree program in fall 2025 AND on a timeline to graduate in spring 2027 after completing four full-time semesters.
- Four-year college/university students must be enrolled full-time in an IT-related bachelor’s degree program AND on a timeline to graduate in spring 2027 after completing four full-time semesters starting in fall 2025.
- Students enrolled in an accelerated bachelor’s/master’s IT-related degree program must be on a timeline to graduate in spring 2027 after completing four full-time semesters starting in fall 2025.
- For the graduate fellowship:
- Individuals must be seeking admission to enter a full-time, IT-related master’s degree in fall 2025 AND be on a timeline to graduate in spring 2027 after completing four full-time semesters.
- Hold a minimum 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale at the time of the application and maintain this GPA throughout the program.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship: https://www.gilmanscholarship.org/new window

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program (Gilman Program) is a program of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. To be eligible for a Gilman scholarship, an applicant must be:
- A citizen or national of the United States;
- An undergraduate student in good standing at an accredited institution of higher education in the United States (including both two-year and four-year institutions);
- Receiving a Federal Pell Grant during the time of application or provide proof that they will be receiving a Pell Grant during the term of their study abroad program or internship;
- In the process of applying to, or accepted to, a credit-bearing study abroad or internship program. Proof of program acceptance is required prior to award disbursement;
- Applying for credit-bearing study abroad programs in a country or location with an overall Travel Advisory Level 1 or 2, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Travel Advisory Systemnew window. It is important to note that certain areas within a country or location that has an overall Travel Advisory Level 1 or 2 may be designated within the Travel Advisory as either Level 3 or Level 4; Gilman scholars will not be allowed to travel to these specific areas. Gilman scholars are unable to participate in programs located in a country or location — or an area within a country or location — that is designated as either a Level 3 (“Reconsider travel to”) or Level 4 (“Do not travel to”).
